There is syncing between all Mac devices. There is the occasional hiccup and you must turn off and restart iCloud. There is a syncing instructional page on the Piso13 web site. Find it and download it for future reference. http://www.piso13.com/support.html
is their syncing between mac and my iphone and pad? I brought th emac version believing they would all sync? HELP.
There is both a Mac version and a mobile version of Opus Domini and you need both. One doesn't work on the other. As far as syncing? There is still some problems with syncing between the Mac and mobile versions. Occasionally, one of my tasks will not sync or the order of the task list will be just a bit off.
Thank said, this is still the best app out there for a task/calendar combo app. I asked Franklin Covey why they haven't created an app to replace their paper planner and they are sticking with their online version which is functional - but ugly as hell. And that makes it uninspiring to use. And, Franklin Covey has no plans in the foreseeable future to create an app that resembles their planner. IDIOTS!
So OD is the best we've got right now. Personally I like Wunderlist and Nozbe, but none of them do what OD does or is supposed to do. They are great task lists - but no appointment calendar. Wunderlist sync for all devices is $4.99 a month while Nozbe charges $9.99 a month.
Same no syncing problem 4 months later. I just put in another ticket. What are others using as an OD replacement?
Opened up my ibook this morning(OS 7.5). Opus Domini opened but will not load data from iCloud. There is a persistent message saying Opening Store. My icloud account is accessible via browser. Any suggestions?
I just have issues with the tasks syncing between my three devices. Frustrating. Basically it renders this app useless to me.
Dear Opus Users - I don't know why OD hasn't totally mastered their own app yet, but they have not. Still, mine works fine. I use it on my iMac, MacBook Pro and iPad2. That said, I almost always enter events-appointments on my Apple Calendar. I use the Apple Cal as much as possible when adding, editing or deleting events. Every once in a while there is a sync problem and all my data gets erased, but I can always sync using local data. This is probably my error not OD's. I don't have an iPhone yet, so I don't have to mess with a 4th device. Seriously, if your having issues - fill out a support ticket and send it in. I have found OD to be very customer service friendly...
I bought OD for iMac, iPhone and iPad, with high hopes that they would sync across all platforms. As I recounted on this forum last year, I was very disappointed with the results: occasional syncs, then poof! deletions. The only thing more disappointing that OD's iCloud performance, was Piso13's risible support -- a person without basic English communication skills and without comprehension of the program merely reciting, again and again, the instruction manual. I gave up hope of syncing on iCloud.
Updates for all three programs popped up on on my devices from time to time thereafter, and I dutifully downloaded them. Then, with some free time earlier this month, and being foolishly hopeful that the past year and several program updates might have generated a functioning iCloud function for OD, I launched back into the sync situation. And at first, I was rewarded! While it was beyond OD's iCloud power -- although not beyond the power of every other iCloud program in the Apple universe -- to sync more than two platforms at once, syncing did seem to work passably well so long as I tried to sync only two devices (doing three was hopeless, so I jettisoned the iPad sync).
Two weeks of serviceable use followed. I was annoyed by OD's refusal to include a "sync now" function with the program (again, Piso is out of step with all other developers), and I noticed that an entry on iMac might appear on iPhone within a moment; or a few minutes; or perhaps an hour later. The mystery of time delays never cleared up.
But the final answer to my dream of syncing has become clear: DO NOT DO IT! EVER!
An iMac entry on OD yesterday didn't appear on iPhone for an hour; then overnight; then 24 hours. I "rebooted" the iPhone OD on iCloud, and still yesterday's entry did not come down from the cloud. But I discovered why: the entry on OD on iMac, which had stood there unchanged for more than 24 hours, just disappeared into the ether when the iPhone OD was restarted. In other words, OD's iCloud sync was back to its old magic: make an entry in OD, and the OD iCloud master will decide whether it should be synced or deleted from every device!
Happily for me, I was prepared, having learned from last year's disaster that when playing with iCloud on OD, always back up your principal OD program daily. So I could and did restore the data to my iMac version of OD.
But I have now for all time given up on OD and its dubious syncing.
Will never try it again, will never waste time trying again, and will simply advise everyone on this forum to NOT suffer the abuse of OD's badly written iCloud feature.
I am looking to sink my opus between my iphone, ipad and computer. Currently, I am not seeming the opus in my iCloud settings on either device - which tells me I don't have an iCloud account with my Opus -- is this because I am not using the correct version of the opus app? I am using the free versions - the tutorials say I need a "pro" version - but I don't see a "Pro" in any of the versions...can some one give me the names of the apps that I need to buy? And will this then allow them to be on my iCloud? I did look at the tutorials and sent a request to the company - but thought I'd check on this forum...thanks for your advice
Or submit a support request and they will send you the link to sync all your devices.
There is info on this through Opus Domini support. But basically, you should set up sync from one of your Mac and then sync your iPad or IPhone. Basically turn off sync on all your devices. Get all your devices in one spot. Go to your Mac and turn on sync. Then turn sync in each other device one at a time. This is basic. Like i said Support has complete directions for this. All my devices (iMac-MacBook Pro-iPad sync with each other. No problems.
Same thing has happened to me... I downloaded and paid for both, opus domini and the mobile pro. Here are the results: My MacBook Air and iPhone are both synchronized but the iPad only got some info and is now not detecting when I make changes to my lists and schedules... whats up with that too???
I purchased and started using the Opus Domini 2.2.3 version earlier this week for my ipad. I entered task and am linked to iCloud. the app worked fine (tasks showed up the next day). However, today when I opened the app all my task are missing. What's up with that??
Is there a way to sync tasks(or plans to develop one) if you do not have iCloud? Like when the phone is connected to the computer?
Hi, I'm a big fan of Opus Domini and I bought the Pro version of it yesterday.
Thank you for posting back, Stephen. I like Opus Domini. Since it is mostly a personal system for future ideas and my personal life, it really only has to exist on my iPhone. I wish that the sync feature work, and one day it probably will, but sync is not a deal-breaker for me. For actual project and task management where sync is essential, I use another application. So I won't request money back for the desktop version...I just won't ever enter anything from there. Ed Thome
The iCloud sync on my system works fine between my iPad and Macbook Pro. However it erases everything on my missions page. My iMac seems to sync with itself, which is very strange... Why this is a problem, i have no idea.
Yesterday (June 16) I got a response from Support and I reprint it here for this forum:
"Sometimes if the connection is briefly interrupted or a second upload starts while the another one is in process the sync becomes flawed and issues like the one you describe happen. This issues however solve by resetting Opus Domini's Cloud File.
"This is an external bug that we are trying to solve together with Apple, however up until now there has not been a definite solution, therefore you are eligible to as for a refund. Refunds as well as purchases are managed through the AppStore. The two links below describe the refund process:
As I read this, the answer rests in the second paragraph: we don't have a solution, and we don't know when we will have a solution or whether we will ever have a solution; want your money back?
I should add to what I said above, that *most* things sync ok, but the "Mission" page components are more likely to get erased than to sync.
Unfortunately, I agree with Stephen (and Frank). With the Twitter comments, I thought I was the only one having the sync problems, but apparently not.
I find the communication that I get regarding backing up or communicating with iCloud to be confusing or nonexistent, and perhaps that is a part of the problem. (1) After adding information I never see an indication that it is updating the record in iCloud. I never really know what has made it to iCloud. Putting the shoe on the other foot, if I open Opus Domini on a device that hasn't been updated recently, perhaps it is updating its old data to iCloud but I can't tell that it is because there is no visual clue that it is happening. [Is my good copy getting erased because it never got to iCloud anyway, or because it was replaced by being replaced by an old copy?] (2) If I do a manual backup it shows a picture of a cloud with a down-arrow in it and the words "Backing up". [I would expect the picture to have an up-arrow in it.] (3) When I open the application I see a cloud with a down-arrow in it that says "loading data". [What I would want to see is a dialog saying: "Checking time-stamp" and then it would say "downloading data from iCloud" but would not upload anything to iCloud unless it first gives me a dialog "Do you want to update iCloud with the data on this device?" (4) If I shut off iCloud, I still get the same communication: When Backing up (to the internal drive it would seem) I still get a picture of a cloud with a downarrow saying "Backing up". When I open the application I still get a picture of a cloud with a downarrow saying "loading data". [I would expect the picture of a cloud to be gone and if there were a picture it would be of a disk.] Also, I presume "loading data" means to the device.
Anyway, the lack of communication reminds me of programs written for the PC. If it were more clear what it was doing, then perhaps the issue could be diagnosed.
Fortunately for me, I only use Opus Domini for meta-planning rather than actual day-to-day work progress, so I don't make many entries, and now I physically copy the words I write in it to my device so I can replace them *when* they get deleted later. I use OmniFocus for my real work and its sync-work is wonderful.
My experience is iCloud for Opus Domini does NOT work!
I got this app because it does work like Franklin Covey, and I installed it on three devices even before there was (supposedly) iCloud synchronizing, as I wanted to be ready to go as soon as the iCloud feature appeared: my Mac, my iPhone and my iPad.
Now THREE TIMES I have been to the support desk to ask for help, and each time followed the advice I was given, and EVERY TIME the same problem recurs: there is an iCloud breakdown, and entries made on one device, usually iMac, instead of appearing on the other two devices, are not transferred; instead, the iMac version is synced with the older iPhone or iPad version, thereby wiping out iMac entries.
In other words, the synchronizing is USELESS.
THREE TIMES I have been given support help, with detailed instructions to follow, and each time the problem appears to be fixed, only to reappear, randomly, within a few days.
I think Piso has no idea how to make iCloud work properly, and I am tired of being used as their guinea pig to help develop a feature they should never have introduced until it was customer-ready.
Ironically, yesterday Piso came out with a mobile update to correct "bugs." I installed it on both iPhone and iMac yesterday.
The problem occurred again TODAY, AFTER the "curative" update had been installed.
I can't run the risk of losing more data, so I just have to turn off iCloud on the devices, which of course makes having OD on multiple devices absolutely useless, as I can only use it on one device!
I am stunned Piso introduced iCloud before it was ready and equally amazed Apple and a host of third party suppliers can master iCloud but it appears to be beyond Piso's capability.
Hi guys... I a recent user of Opus Domini, and I have intalled in the iPhone, iPad and now in my Mac too!
It is similarry a Frankin Couvey Schedule that I using for 10 years... and that ´s why I put in all my app... But infortunally I can make the correct sincrony...
It is the worst problem that must be resolve as soon as possible.
(I sugest that if we could send some e-mails using the system to informe and make tasks to other persons will be grate to... / the same with the Master Task Planners)

Thanks Frank for the update. I'm sure it is frustrating for you guys, but please keep responding and consider some back door options. For opus domino to work, it needs to synch. Even if this requires connecting my iPhone to my laptop everyday, I'll be happy with that. If iCloud does''t work, then let's look at other options. Thanks! It's a great product ... if this issue gets resolved.
Hi guys, what's the lo-down on the efforts to build synchronization capability? I was told in January that it was developed and awaiting apple approval - given that we're now in May does this mean it was not approved? When will it be here? The tool has great potential however without syncing capability to iPhone it's not very useful. Any one have any updates on this?

I was so exited with opus domini pro on my back air, I decided to buy an iphone 4S (since I had an android smart phone) to have the tasks synchronized. It was so obvious and it doesn't work!!! How comes you didn't think to do so immediatly and when will it work? Thank you for a quick and constructive answer.

I've got a blue dot under Jan 12 on the monthly calendar on my Ipad copy of OD. It's not there on my Mac version. Can anyone tell me why it is there? Thanks. I love this app and cannot wait for the cloud work to be finished so they will synch.
